Parts Department

Keith Baker -Lister Machinery Group's Divisional Parts Director.

“As a group we come from an agricultural base and we have built our business by maintaining a high level of service to farmers large and small . . . We always try to help every customer out no matter how small he is.”

‘Sales with service’ is one of the principles that underpins the Lister Wilder Group’s approach to its customers right across southern England.

At Ashford, that responsibility rests with service and parts teams who have already established a solid reputation amongst customers in the groundcare and construction businesses. Carrying that forward to Lister Machinery’s new customers in mainline farming.

As Lister Wilder Group's - Divisional Parts Director, Keith Baker, is closely involved in the evolution of the systems that now include Lister Machinery. “We have to appreciate that farming is a 24/7 business and that the tractors represent a livelihood for our customers." The demands on them are considerable and they will quite naturally be frustrated with any supplier who doesn’t do what it takes to keep them moving.”

“As a group we come from an agricultural base and we have built our business by maintaining a high level of service to farmers large and small. We don't turn anything away and we always try to help every customer out no matter how small he is.”

Keith is proud of an Ashford parts team led by manager Kevin Padgett. The team consisting of Jason, Neil, Stuart, Ben and Kevin all have dedicated roles to ensure they have the specialist knowledge required for each individual sector, but are also able to pull together during busy periods.

Kevin Padgett’s knowledge of the business goes all the way back to leaving school when he took on an agricultural apprenticeship. He was a valued member of the team which came over to Lister Wilder when it took over the previous dealership at Ashford.

“I enjoy what I do and feel we have a particularly good and well bonded team here,” he says. “There is a real satisfaction in getting to know our customers and supporting them.”

The group holds up to £4m worth of parts at any time and aims to get any stock item into the hands of a customer within 24 hours. In the case of Kubota, a £1.5m to £2m is held, at any time in season. Parts can be also be called in from Kubota’s UK headquarters in Oxfordshire or from additional locations throughout Europe and shipped direct. A state of the art computerised system is used to ensure tracking and moving parts at speed, ensuring that any machinery down time is kept to a minimum.
